KAITHANGU
The project looks into the structures, functions and relevance of social intervention in the form of community owned home based palliative care services in Kerala context and the impact it left over on the well-being of palliative care patients and their families, by looking into attributes of home based care models, effectiveness of case management, effect on patient’s symptoms, quality of life, health service costs, and care giver’s welfare. In order to understand the recent developments in palliative care, activities of the three important home-based palliative care services, KKC Smaraka Pain and Palliative Care Society, Kayamkulam, Karuna Pain and Palliative Care Society, Chenganoor and Palliative Care Unit under PHC, Kilimanoor are selected for the study.
