CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE OF UNIVERSITY OF KERALA

The Centre for Agroecology and Public Health has been upgraded as ‘Centre for Excellence of the University of Kerala’ in the Budget speech of 2023-24 in recognition of the academic, research, and outreach interventions over the years. The centre leads the knowledge creation and dissemination in the domain of agroecology and public health in Kerala by employing the action learning and research methodology in conducting research projects, certificate courses, internships, and social intervention initiatives. These initiatives steer a transformation towards multidisciplinary and outcome-oriented research and learning in the sector and benefit various stakeholders, including students, academicians, researchers, social activists, and the larger society they represent. It acts as a knowledge hub and facilitation centre where the stakeholders from diverse arenas meet and co-create knowledge, anchoring a synchronisation in research among the university, industry, and society. Initiatives include,
- To develop context-specific agroecological and public health models suitable for Kerala.
- Developing human resources for sustainable development initiatives by offering internships, training programs, and workshops.
- Undertaking collaborative action research projects in agroecology and public health to identify gaps and needs, thereby contributing to public policy discourse towards materialising SDGs.
