
Concurrent Evaluation of NFSA- Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu (2019-2023)
The University of Kerala signed an MoU with the Ministry of Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution to undertake concurrent evaluation and monitoring of the National Food Security Act 2013 across Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Lakshadweep during 2019-2023. The main objectives of the concurrent evaluation were to assess the overall progress of implementation of NFSA (2013) across the selected states and measure and monitor the change it has brought in, specifically:
a) At systemic level: Assess and analyze the progress of implementation of various aspects of the NFSA2013
b) At beneficiary level: Evaluate the benefits of NFSA on the target groups to achieve the benefits of NFSA.
Data were collected from Fair Price Shops, beneficiaries, and members of the Vigilance Committee from these states, and the report was submitted to the Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs, which formed inputs for furthering of policies for ensuring food security in India.
