Pain and Palliative Care Policy of GOK, An Impact Analysis (2023)

The project funded by the University of Kerala analysed the policy innovation in the pain and palliative care sector by looking into the palliative care policies of 2008 and 2019. The project initiated a case study on the Pain and Palliative Unit, CHC, Vilappil, Nemom Block Panchayat, and attempted to study the structure, nature, and functioning of the unit along with its significance in the three-tier system of decentralised palliative care system. Data were collected and analysed from patients, caregivers, palliative care nurses, ASHA workers, etc to understand the quality of life of patients attached to the unit and the burden experienced by caregivers.
